Is your site a ghost to ChatGPT?
Answers asks ChatGPT, Perplexity and Claude your buyers' questions every week, and shows whether they name you, link you, or name someone else.
In short
- You write up to 10 questions per site. Each week trckable asks them of three assistants, with web search on, twice each, and records who is named and what is linked.
- Every number says what each API answered. There is never a score.
- It sits next to your traffic. The pages the assistants link to show how often AI crawlers read them, how many visitors an assistant sent, and what those visitors earned.
- It is part of trckable on every plan and in the open-source program.
Four states#
| Mark | In the answer |
|---|---|
| Named and linked | The answer names you and links to your page. |
| Named, no link | The answer names you but links elsewhere. |
| Linked, not named | The answer uses your page as a source but names someone else. |
| Not there | Not named and not linked. |
The first time an assistant names you for a question, the dashboard says so and shows what it said. When one stops, the Briefing tells you.
From the answer to the sale#
Under the answers, one table lists the pages the assistants linked to:
| Column | Means |
|---|---|
| Answers | How many answers linked the page |
| AI read | Times an AI crawler read it |
| Sent | Visitors an AI assistant sent |
| Earned | Revenue those visitors made |
Most tools that watch AI answers stop at a count. This one joins it to your visits and your revenue, so you can tell which page is worth improving.
What the APIs answered#
Answers asks the providers' APIs, fresh each time, with web search on. People using the ChatGPT, Perplexity or Claude apps may see something else. That is why every figure is worded "what each API answered", and why a result is never called a ranking.
What leaves your server#
Only the question and an approximate country. Nothing about your visitors is sent. A question that names your own site is refused, because it would bias the answer. OpenAI calls are sent with store: false.
On your own server#
Open source, same code as Cloud. Add a key for any of OpenAI, Perplexity or Anthropic (TRCKABLE_OPENAI_KEY, TRCKABLE_PERPLEXITY_KEY, TRCKABLE_ANTHROPIC_KEY) and Answers turns on. You pay the providers directly: usually a few dollars a month at their list prices. A monthly budget (20 USD by default, TRCKABLE_ANSWERS_BUDGET) stops the rounds when it is used.
On trckable Cloud#
We hold the keys. There is nothing to sign up for and no key to paste: add your questions and the first answers arrive within half an hour. Every plan gets the same 10 questions per site.
Questions#
- Which assistants does it ask?
- ChatGPT (OpenAI), Perplexity and Claude (Anthropic), through their APIs. Not Gemini.
- Does it cost extra?
- No. Answers is part of every plan. On a server you run yourself, you pay the AI providers for the questions with your own keys.
- Is the result what people see in the apps?
- Not necessarily. Answers shows what the APIs answered when asked fresh with web search on. The apps can differ.
- Why is there no score?
- A single number would hide which assistant, which question and which page. Answers shows each of them, so you can act on one.
- Can Peek read it?
- Yes. Ask Peek whether ChatGPT recommends you, who shows up instead, or which page to improve, and it answers from the latest round and links to the Answers screen.
